About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking Registered Nurses to join their team at Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. This role is on a Medical Telemetry Unit, a 38-bed unit focused on providing direct and individualized care for a varied medical/telemetry population. The unit offers learning opportunities with a full spectrum of medical diagnoses and comorbidities, a highly engaged and supportive management team, a Robust Unit Based Council, flexible scheduling, and an emphasis on work/life balance. The patient population includes those with sepsis, pulmonary conditions or respiratory distress, chest pain, infection, those requiring isolation, skin and wound care, various procedures, enteral feeding tube insertion and maintenance, cardiac monitoring, GI abnormalities, trach care, and genitourinary abnormalities.

Requirements

• Graduate of RN School of Nursing
• ADN required
• Must be licensed to practice professional nursing by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners
• A degree from a recognized nursing program or two years of relevant work experience
• A minimum of (1) one year's experience in the field of nursing
• A valid Registered Nurse license
• The ability to obtain a Basic Life Support certification within the first 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and individualized care to patients on the Medical Telemetry Unit.
• Manage patients with a variety of medical diagnoses and comorbidities.
• Care for patients requiring isolation, including negative airflow rooms.
• Provide skin and wound care, including wound vacs.
• Assist with procedures such as scopes, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, central line placement, paracentesis, angio-cath, pacemaker insertions, and chest tubes.
• Perform enteral feeding tube insertion and maintenance.
• Monitor patients requiring cardiac monitoring.
• Manage patients with GI abnormalities, trach care, and genitourinary abnormalities.
