About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking Registered Nurses to join their team at Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. This is a Seasonal PRN position. The Medical Telemetry Unit is a 38-bed unit focused on providing a high level of direct and individualized care, offering ample learning opportunities with a full spectrum of medical diagnoses and comorbidities. The unit serves a varied medical/telemetry population including patients with sepsis, pulmonary conditions or respiratory distress, chest pain, infection, patients requiring isolation, skin and wound care, procedures like scopes, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, central line placement, paracentesis, angio-cath, pacemaker insertions and chest tubes, enteral feeding tube insertion and maintenance, patients requiring cardiac monitoring, GI abnormalities, trach care, and genitourinary abnormalities.

Requirements

• Graduate of RN School of Nursing
• ADN required
• Must be licensed to practice professional nursing by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners
• A degree from a recognized nursing program or two years of relevant work experience
• A minimum of (1) one year's experience in the field of nursing
• A valid Registered Nurse license
• The ability to obtain a Basic Life Support certification within the first 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Providing a high level of direct and individualized care.
• Caring for patients with a full spectrum of medical diagnoses and comorbidities.
• Caring for patients with sepsis.
• Caring for patients with pulmonary conditions or respiratory distress.
• Caring for patients with chest pain.
• Caring for patients with infection.
• Caring for patients requiring isolation; including to negative airflow rooms.
• Caring for patients requiring skin and wound care including wound vacs.
• Caring for patients requiring scopes, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, central line placement, paracentesis, angio-cath, pacemaker insertions and chest tubes.
• Providing enteral feeding tube insertion and maintenance.
• Caring for patients requiring Cardiac monitoring.
• Caring for patients with GI abnormalities.
• Providing trach care.
• Caring for patients with genitourinary abnormalities.
