About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking Registered Nurses to join their team at Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. This role is on the Medical Telemetry Unit, a 38-bed unit focused on providing high-level, individualized care for a varied medical/telemetry population. The unit offers ample learning opportunities with a full spectrum of medical diagnoses and comorbidities, a highly engaged and supportive management team, a robust Unit Based Council, flexible scheduling, and an emphasis on work/life balance. The patient population includes those with sepsis, pulmonary conditions or respiratory distress, chest pain, infection, those requiring isolation (including negative airflow rooms), skin and wound care (including wound vacs), procedures like scopes, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, central line placement, paracentesis, angio-cath, pacemaker insertions, and chest tubes. Additionally, the unit cares for patients requiring enteral feeding tube insertion and maintenance, cardiac monitoring, GI abnormalities, trach care, and genitourinary abnormalities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of RN School of Nursing
  • ADN required
  • Must be licensed to practice professional nursing by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners
  • Grad of an Accredited Program
  • Specialized field of study should be nursing.
  • RN license.
  • Must have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a high level of direct and individualized care to patients on the Medical Telemetry Unit.
  • Care for a varied medical/telemetry population including patients with sepsis, pulmonary conditions or respiratory distress, chest pain, infection, and those requiring isolation.
  • Manage patients requiring skin and wound care including wound vacs.
  • Assist with procedures such as scopes, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, central line placement, paracentesis, angio-cath, pacemaker insertions and chest tubes.
  • Provide enteral feeding tube insertion and maintenance.
  • Monitor patients requiring cardiac monitoring.
  • Care for patients with GI abnormalities, trach care, and genitourinary abnormalities.
