About The Position

This role involves providing nursing care within the Birthing Center, focusing on patient assessment, care planning, documentation, and staff support. Responsibilities include maintaining patient records, participating in unit meetings and educational programs, and ensuring service excellence.

Requirements

Ability to read, write and communicate in English
Graduate of a School of Nursing
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Basic Life Support certification (BLS)
Pass CCHC Pharmacology Exam prior to start date
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) (obtain within 6 months, offered within)
Completion of an approved De-escalation Certification Course (obtain within 90 days, offered within)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (PALS) (obtain within 6 months, offered within)
Fetal Monitor Course within 3 months of position and every 2 years in position
Completion of Baby-Friendly competencies within 1 year of position
Completion of scrub training for cesarean sections within 1 year of position

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN)
Copy of the highest-level clinical diploma/degree and/or transcript required for those employees performing moderate complexity testing

Responsibilities

Utilizes the nursing process in caring for patients by maintaining relevant, accurate and current patient records.
Provides documentation of assessment of the patient throughout the Hospital admission including physical, psychological, social dimensions and discharge plans.
Summarizes assessment data and initiate plan of care with communication of pertinent data to allied patient care providers.
Understands, assumes, and demonstrates proficiency in the role of charge nurse.
Demonstrates proficiency in Computerized Nursing Informatics (information systems).
Assumes role of resource person regarding patient care, orientation and teaching staff.
Participates in at least four-unit staff meetings per year and attends mandatory educational programs.
Participates in identification of the aspects of care for the patient, indicators used to monitor the quality and appropriateness of care, and the evaluation of that care.
Adheres to safety, blood/body fluid policies and procedures.
Assesses personal learning development needs. Maintains documentation of current and ongoing professional development activities.
Regularly up-dates knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the age of the patient served.
Shows a willingness to participate on Nursing Committees.
Represents hospital in the community and within the hospital by maintaining confidentiality regarding patients and hospital matters and by presenting the hospital in a manner that will best market the services provided.
Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
Performs other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested his/her immediate supervisor.
