Akron General’s Rapid Observation Unit is part of the Emergency Department (ED) and provides treatment and evaluation to patients while determining if the patient needs to be admitted to the hospital. As an RN, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. A caregiver in this position works nights 7:00PM – 7:30AM.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Program, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification or American Red Cross

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Cardiac and/or Telemetry experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for a given patient population.
  • Complete ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
  • Develop and update goals, involve patients and families in care and serve as a patient advocate.
  • Provide nursing care, administer treatments and medication, and document.
  • Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient / family outcomes, contribute to the improvement of care and participate in the quality improvement process.
  • Delegate tasks, serve as a resource person, pursue ongoing education and specialty certifications, maintain applicable certification/licensure and obtain any required certifications specific to the unit.
