About The Position

The Quality Assessment & Assurance (QAA) Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting the facility's quality improvement, infection prevention, regulatory compliance, and resident safety initiatives. This position works collaboratively with nursing leadership, pharmacy services, interdisciplinary team members, and external partners to monitor quality measures, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote positive resident outcomes. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and detail-oriented Registered Nurse with long-term care experience, strong clinical knowledge, and prior administrative and supervisory experience.

Requirements

Current Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing and without restrictions.
Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility.
Prior nursing supervisory experience.
Prior administrative experience in a healthcare setting.
Must possess an Infection Preventionist (IP) certification or obtain certification within a designated timeframe after hire.
Strong understanding of long-term care regulations, quality assurance, and resident care standards.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and recordkeeping skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
Proficiency with electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Experience with QAPI programs, infection prevention, antibiotic stewardship, and PDPM documentation.
Experience participating in state and federal surveys.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and support the facility's Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
Facilitate completion of the annual facility assessment in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Collect, analyze, and report quality metrics and performance improvement data.
Assist with development, implementation, and monitoring of quality improvement initiatives.
Coordinate the facility's Antibiotic Stewardship Program in collaboration with Pharmacy Services and medical providers.
Monitor and oversee implementation of Enhanced Barrier Precautions for appropriate residents.
Assist with infection surveillance activities and related quality improvement efforts.
Maintain required records and reports related to infection prevention and quality initiatives.
Conduct daily reviews and follow-up of resident incidents and accidents.
Track trends, identify opportunities for improvement, and communicate findings to leadership.
Participating in root cause analyses and development of corrective action plans.
Coordinate and facilitate quarterly employee safety meetings.
Assist in promoting a culture of workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
Track and maintain documentation of safety activities and initiatives.
Review and provide medical records to insurance providers and other authorized entities as needed.
Assist in validating documentation supporting PDPM classifications and reimbursement.
Maintain accurate and confidential resident records in accordance with applicable regulations.
Collaborate closely with the Director of Nursing and Nursing Services leadership to support quality and regulatory initiatives.
Participate in surveys, audits, and regulatory inspections.
Serve as a resource for nursing staff regarding quality assurance and compliance activities.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
