About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Registered Nurse to join our Pediatric Gastroenterology team in the Sanford Children's Specialty Clinic. The role is responsible for the coordination of care, patient assessment, patient education, triage, and various other interventions. This position requires excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize and triage the needs of patients and the practice. The nurse will occasionally work in emergent patient care situations requiring critical thinking and prompt assessment skills. Responsibilities include performing age-related patient assessments and interventions, as well as scheduling tests and interventions per provider order. The role utilizes the professional nursing process to provide individualized nursing care to patients across the age continuum in an ambulatory setting, caring for patients in all phases of specific states including assessment, disease maintenance, treatment, and follow-up as patients move between inpatient and outpatient settings. A working knowledge of electronic medical records is required. The nurse may also work with or participate with a provider in hospital settings, manage hospital patients, and take call with the provider as needed, abiding by respective healthcare agency's policies. The position emphasizes providing a quality of service that customers describe as excellent and requires proficiency in assessing and triaging patients with various conditions and devices, both in person and via electronic communication. Collaboration with providers and appropriate assistance during surgical and non-surgical procedures are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program required
  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific licensure, competencies and certifications
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical records
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize/triage the needs of the patients and the practice
  • Critical thinking and prompt assessment skills required for emergent patient care situations
  • Skilled in assessment and triage of patients with various conditions and devices both in person and in using the appropriate mode of electronic communication
