About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Registered Nurse to join our Pediatric Gastroenterology team in the Sanford Children's Specialty Clinic. This role is responsible for the coordination of care, patient assessment, patient education, triage, and various other interventions. The position requires excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize and triage the needs of patients and the practice. The nurse will occasionally work in emergent patient care situations requiring critical thinking and prompt assessment skills. They will perform age-related patient assessment and intervention, as well as scheduling tests and interventions per provider order. The role involves utilizing the professional nursing process to provide individualized nursing care to patients across the age continuum in an ambulatory setting, caring for patients in all phases of specific states including assessment, disease maintenance, treatment, and follow-up. The nurse must have working knowledge of electronic medical records and may participate with or without a provider in hospital and on hospital patients, and take call with the provider, as needed. The position requires skilled assessment and triage of patients with various conditions and devices, both in person and via electronic communication, and collaboration with providers to deliver appropriate assistance during surgical and non-surgical procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program required
  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific licensure, competencies and certifications
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical records
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize/triage the needs of the patients and the practice
  • Critical thinking and prompt assessment skills
  • Mental flexibility to the ebb and flow of the busy clinic day

  • Prior auth experience
  • Comfortability flying in a airplane to serve on outreach clinics
  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing
