About The Position

The plastic and reconstructive surgery nurse position is a hybrid role that involves first-assisting in the operating room and patient care in the office setting. This role is responsible for first assisting during surgery and peri-operative coordination, as well as clinic duties such as triaging patient calls and messages, documenting in the EMR, and ensuring physician recommendations are communicated to patients. The role also ensures appropriate preoperative evaluations are completed, including pre-anesthesia, imaging, and other required health clearances.

Requirements

Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Responsibilities

First Assist During Surgery and Peri-Operative Coordination
Work with operating room staff to ensure necessary suture and instrumentation is ready for OR case.
Ensure appropriate Preoperative Evaluation has been completed on patients including pre-anesthesia, imaging and any other required health clearance.
Triage incoming patient phone calls and portal messages in a timely manner - document appropriately in EMR and ensure physician recommendation is properly communicated to patients.
