About The Position

The RN Phone Triage is a person who thrives in a fast-paced, busy environment. This role requires the ability to efficiently answer calls, listen, and determine the best course of action throughout the day. The individual will manage voicemails and the in-basket to ensure each patient is assisted pleasantly and properly. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree Nursing/Patient Care
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - State Licensing Board

Responsibilities

  • Work with physicians, nurses, and patients to resolve questions concerning medications, health education, and medical advice within skill level and scope of practice.
  • Assist the patient by acquiring the appropriate appointment, as needed.
  • Record and maintain complete and accurate records of patient and physician communications regarding medical care, according to standard medical record documentation requirements.
  • Retrieve messages from phone mail in a timely manner and respond to patient needs, according to medical priority.
  • Document all incoming calls according to established department routine.
  • Follow through in a timely manner on patient requests.
  • Submit electronically/fax new prescriptions and refill prescriptions, according to Physician orders.
  • Serve as a resource to clinic staff regarding medical information, patient assessment, and nursing management of illness.
  • Perform document scanning, as needed.
  • Acquire pre-certs/prior authorizations for patient needs.
  • Provide test results.
