About The Position

Responsible for the total direct nursing care of all patients within established standards of care, hospital and unit policies, procedures, and guidelines. Staff in the Ortho and Spine Center of Excellence (OSCE) must complete specific orientation related to orthopedic and spine care pathways for OSCE patients. Program staff receive department-specific orientation that guides OSCE patient care and eight hours of education per the annual education training plan focused on orthopedic and spine care.

Requirements

Graduate of a nursing program, including a Nursing Diploma, ADN, BSN, and/or MSN.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Washington State or holding a multistate Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) license.
Current Healthcare Provider BLS from the American Heart Association by the start date.

Responsibilities

Provides direct patient care and functions as a patient advocate.
Assesses the comprehensive nursing needs of an assigned group of patients.
Coordinates the patient and family/significant other education process.
Continuously plans, implements, and evaluates patient care, incorporating the patient and family/significant other into the process.
Participates with physician partners and other interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement the patient and family/significant other's plan of care.
Communicates relevant information, including patient information, safety issues, equipment problems, and quality issues, to the immediate supervisor in a timely manner.
Communicates and documents changes in patient condition in a timely manner to the charge nurse/supervisor and physician.
Performs other duties as assigned.
