The RN OR plays a crucial role in contributing to the patient’s assessment, determining priorities, identifying nursing measures, and evaluating outcomes. Shall be responsible for executing scrub and circulating duties in the Operating Room, ensuring optimal patient care during surgical procedures. Shall assist with GI Lab procedures, showcasing versatility in providing comprehensive nursing care. Shall ensure a comprehensive understanding of the patient's background in preparation for surgery. Shall formulate and document a detailed plan of care in the patient's medical record, tailoring it specifically for the surgical context. Shall verify the transcription of physician’s orders and ensure accurate documentation in the inpatient medical record, carry out prescribed orders to facilitate a seamless surgical process. The RN OR communicates pertinent patient data to the surgical team, contributing to a collaborative and effective surgical environment. Shall continue reassessment of patient conditions and prompt revision of care plans based on identified nursing problems is a critical responsibility for the RN in the Operating Room. Shall administering medications and Intravenous (IV) therapies, monitors and meticulously documents patient responses to ensure the safety and efficacy of the surgical intervention. Shall operate specialized equipment in the OR, including but not limited to defibrillators, EKG machines, and cardiac monitors, ensuring preparedness for any emergent situations. The RN OR also participate in discharge planning, showcasing a commitment to continuity of care beyond the surgery itself.
