Dignity Health - California Hospital Medical Center, founded in 1887, is a 318-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital in downtown Los Angeles, California. As a Nurse Shift Manager, you will oversee a department of frontline nurses, supporting them in their professional growth and ensuring alignment with departmental operational goals. Previous experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes is highly valued. The role requires accountability, confidence, excellent communication skills (both one-on-one and in groups), and the ability to handle difficult conversations, as you will be responsible for the performance of your team and unit.

Requirements

  • Associates Of Science Nursing
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse, upon hire
  • Registered Nurse: CA, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program, upon hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support, upon hire
  • Fire Safety, within 90 Days

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients.
  • Advocate for fellow nurses and support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives.
  • Supervise nursing staff assigned to a particular shift.
  • Assign patients to available nursing staff, taking into consideration the patient's condition and the employee's skill level.
  • Assess, monitor, and educate the nursing staff on patient care.
  • Institute emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Anticipate staffing needs and move proactively to respond to them.
  • Oversee stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure that the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.
