About The Position

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the ambulatory surgery center by directing patient care in the ambulatory setting, managing nursing staff, scheduling, training, and evaluations. The Nurse Manager oversees quality improvement, safety, infection control, and compliance programs, while collaborating with leadership and providers to meet patient needs. This role also supports policy development, budgeting, staff education, regulatory readiness, and equipment management, while maintaining professionalism within the center.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing, prefer BSN
  • Current State Registered Nurse Licensure
  • Current BLS/ACLS certification
  • Minimum of two years nursing experience in an ambulatory care setting
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for direction of patient care in the ambulatory care setting.
  • Provide direction, coordination, and evaluation of nursing care.
  • Manages and supervises staff members.
  • Manage daily staffing schedules.
  • Provide orientation for new staff members.
  • Completion of evaluations for staff members yearly.
  • Designate authority to another staff member (RN) to uphold all policies and procedures when nurse manager is unavailable.
  • Participate, with governing board, in the credentialing of physicians, anesthesia providers, and nursing staff, as indicated.
  • Consults with staff, physicians, medical director, and administrative director on nursing problems and interpretation of facility policies to ensure patient needs are met.
  • Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in quality improvement activities.
  • Manage the infection control program, emergency preparedness program, safety program, and quality assurance/risk management program.
  • Oversee the purchase and maintenance of endoscopy equipment and supplies.
  • Assist in the establishment of policies, procedures, and standards for the ambulatory surgery center based on current CMS, DOH, and accreditation bodies.
  • Prepare for and participate in inspections and surveys.
  • Coordinate continuing education activities required for competency of staff.
  • Assists in formulating budget.
  • Maintains professionalism within the center.
