About The Position

Assures the delivery of professional nursing care within the Operating Room by assessing, planning, organizing, directing and evaluating nursing care provided to all surgery patients. Collaborates with the OR Educator in education and training of all department staff both in the initial implementation phase and on an ongoing basis. Develops staff by department specific needs assessment. Develops goals and objectives, implementation methods, evaluation measures. Develops, maintains and interprets policy and procedures; maintains fiscal responsibility for department. Responsible for implementation of professional nursing care for all patients. Acts as liaison between OR staff and administration, medical staff and other hospital departments. Performance appraisals, in collaboration with clinical unit leadership. Participates in facility management team meetings. Works collaboratively with director, administration, finance department and unit leadership in both operating and capital budget processes.

Requirements

  • 2 years of Operating Room acute care leadership experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of RN staff level OR experience.
  • Strong clinical knowledge in surgical nursing.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Current TX RN license or compact state license.
  • Current BLS issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
