About The Position

This role involves assessing and addressing the educational needs of all facility associates, both clinical and non-clinical. The RN Nurse Educator will collaborate with facility leadership to develop and implement orientation and ongoing in-service educational programs. Key responsibilities include improving associate retention, coordinating training schedules, assessing clinical competencies, monitoring resident outcomes, and ensuring the highest level of care and service delivery. The position also plays a crucial role in risk management, developing the Preceptor Program, coordinating the Employee Health Program, and managing the Infection Control Program. This includes orienting new staff, delivering ongoing education, conducting competency assessments, and maintaining comprehensive training records.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the developmental/educational needs of all facility associates by observing staff, reviewing recommendations, analyzing evaluations, and considering survey results, clinical outcomes, and quality indicators.
  • Assess the developmental/educational needs of non-clinical staff.
  • Consult with the Administrator and Director of Nursing (DON) to formulate goals and objectives for orientation and ongoing in-service educational programs.
  • Assist the Administrator and DON in formulating an effective recruitment, hiring, and orientation process to improve associate retention.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of educational programs with the DON, Administrator, and department supervisors.
  • Schedule and coordinate orientation for all new associates and agency staff.
  • Schedule and coordinate ongoing assessment of clinical competencies for nursing service staff.
  • Provide ongoing assessment of resident clinical outcomes and identify areas for additional education to improve outcomes.
  • Continuously monitor resident care and services to ensure the highest level of delivery and intervene as required.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Improvement Consultant, Director of Education, and Clinical Services' Team to resolve care and service delivery issues.
  • Identify areas of greatest risk and collaborate with the Risk Management Coordinator to implement corrective actions.
  • Develop, coordinate, and evaluate the Preceptor Program.
  • Interview, evaluate, and select associates for the Preceptor Program.
  • Coordinate the Employee Health Program, ensuring participation in H&P, TB testing, and Hepatitis B programs.
  • Coordinate the Infection Control Program, monitoring communicable diseases and analyzing data related to facility-acquired infections.
  • Report occupational exposures in accordance with facility policies.
  • Orient all new associates and agency staff by delivering or coordinating required orientation topics.
  • Deliver or coordinate ongoing education programs for all associates.
  • Conduct one-on-one competency assessments of clinical associates.
  • Evaluate the competencies of candidates for the Preceptor Program and ongoing assessment of selected Preceptors.
  • Provide impromptu small group and one-on-one training as needed.
  • Maintain records of all orientation and ongoing in-service programs.
  • Review and incorporate commercially developed instructional materials into existing programs.
  • Identify educational resources to enhance facility educational programs.
  • Educate and monitor practices to ensure associates follow established infection control procedures.
