About The Position

Sanford Children's Specialty Clinic is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our outstanding Pediatric Hematology/Oncology team. This position offers a true balance of maintaining key nursing skills while having the joys of clinic hours with the reassurance of some flexibility at times to work remotely. The role integrates health care for patients/clients across the continuum of care, collaborating with the healthcare team and other professionals to coordinate and ensure timely sequencing of care. This integration enhances patient flow and interdisciplinary communication, promoting early intervention. The nurse supports patients/clients and other family members by removing barriers of care and seeks to evaluate outcomes based on integration among established clinical, financial, and utilization data. Functions in structured and unstructured health care settings, utilizing independent nursing judgment. Knowledge of and utilization of appropriate age-related patient care protocols for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients is essential. The role may serve as a key link between providers, clinics, insurance concerns, communication, inpatient floors, and outside facilities. Strong communication skills are required, along with the ability to coordinate, facilitate, and negotiate with others. The nurse will monitor, evaluate, and trend patient responses utilizing structured care methodologies, work closely with ancillary and support services, and possess the ability to solve problems and identify/implement process improvements. The role requires self-motivation and the ability to work with little direction, as well as the ability to facilitate groups, multidisciplinary teams, and implement best practices. The nurse functions within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice and licensure, adhering to the American Nurses Association's Scope and Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Nurses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing strongly preferred in Bemidji, Marshfield, and Rapid City. Required in Fargo and Sioux Falls (Sanford USD Medical Center and Clinics). Required in Bismarck or enrolled and starting a Bachelor’s degree program within one year of hire with a completion date within three years upon date of hire into position. Required in Fargo Network and Sioux Falls Network or employees hired after January, 2025, who do not possess a Bachelor’s degree in the required field, leadership may consider an educational plan with proven continuous action toward achieving a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing within five years of hire into position. Approval from the Nursing Executive for the market is required in order to waive the bachelor degree requirement (at time of hire). Additionally, for Rural Health Network facilities, for current employees, leadership may have considered acceptable qualifications and work experience equivalency based on facility size, rural market, and business need, prior to new Sanford education requirements.
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program, including, but not limited to, those accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), or National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
  • Currently holds an unencircling RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
