About The Position
Gerber Hospital has been serving the community for over 100 years, offering access to experienced doctors, advanced technology, and programs focused on well-being. The Gerber Med Surg unit is a 13-bed unit (4 observation, 9 inpatient) that is currently undergoing renovations to improve the patient and staff experience. It is a cornerstone of the hospital, serving a large patient population and offering telemedicine services in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, and wound care, with palliative care services coming soon. The unit also has on-site MRI services six days a week, CT, fluoroscopy, general and orthopedic surgery, care management, and medical social workers, with a strong emphasis on maintaining local quality care. The Gerber ICU is an 11-bed unit (2 observation, 9 inpatient) also undergoing renovations. It is a mixed unit accommodating both Med/Surg and ICU patients, offering similar telemedicine services and on-site resources as the Med Surg unit.
Requirements
- Associates in Nursing Required
- Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
- MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months
Responsibilities
- Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan.
- Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA, including ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
- Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
