About The Position

The RN - Medical Unit is accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessing patients, making clinical decisions regarding nursing care, ensuring care is provided safely and competently, delivering individualized nursing care, and evaluating care for groups of patients. This is an onsite, full-time role at The General Hospital Corporation, scheduled for 36 hours per week on a day/night rotating shift, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

Associate's degree in Nursing required; experience cannot be substituted for a degree.
Registered Nurse Massachusetts license required.
Clinical nursing experience of 0–1 year required.
Familiarity with principles and skills needed for practical nursing and patient care.
Knowledge of care required for the age groups receiving care.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Excellent verbal and communication skills.
Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
Administer medications and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
Interpret plans of medical care, assess patients, make clinical decisions regarding nursing care, provide individualized care, and evaluate nursing care for groups of patients.
