This position works under general supervision of physician, mid-level provider and/or nursing supervisor to provide nursing services in care and treatment of patients. Requirements

• Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program.
• Able to read, write, and communicate in English.
• 1 year of RN experience.
• Current Texas (or BNE Compact State) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).

Responsibilities

• Performs and accurately documents physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments, considering age-specific criteria.
• Anticipates patient and/or family needs and expectations to develop an appropriate plan of care, utilizing critical thinking skills.
• Identifies and implements appropriate nursing interventions, documenting them accurately and timely.
• Acts as a coordinator of the interdisciplinary plan of care, conferring collaboratively with healthcare team members.
• Prioritizes nursing interventions based on assessment and promptly identifies changes in condition, taking appropriate follow-up action.
• Involves the patient in the plan of care and keeps them, their family, and/or caregiver informed.
• Evaluates implemented interventions and modifies care accordingly, documenting changes accurately and timely.
• Adheres to hospital and Department of Nursing policies, procedures, clinical pathways, and nationally accepted standards of nursing practice.
• Provides appropriate and timely education to patients, families, significant others, and/or caregivers, documenting all education provided.
• Welcomes and orients patients, families, significant others, and/or caregivers to the unit, encouraging participation in care.
• Advocates for resources and support that enhance patient safety and unit/hospital-based initiatives.
• Performs Peer Evaluations to provide constructive feedback to peers.
• Holds co-workers accountable for their behavior and compliance with policies and standards.
• Actively intervenes when patient safety is at risk.
• Is accountable for patient care and quality/safety initiatives (e.g., patient safety, patient satisfaction, core measures, infection control).
• Shares professional and technical information with colleagues and students.
• Offers self as a resource as needed to others (e.g., preceptor, charge, mentor, unit expert, lends a hand when needed).
• Performs other duties as assigned.
