About The Position

The RN, Medical Nursing delivers comprehensive, patient-centered care to adults with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions within an inpatient medical setting. This role performs thorough assessments, monitors changes in patient condition, and implements evidence-based nursing interventions to support stabilization, recovery, and safe transitions of care. Working collaboratively with physicians, therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary team members, the RN helps coordinate individualized care plans and promote consistent, high-quality outcomes. As part of a supportive, team-oriented nursing environment, this position contributes to patient safety, comfort, and engagement through skilled clinical judgment and compassionate communication throughout the hospitalization.

Requirements

  • Current or temporary RN license in North Dakota or compact RN licensure.
  • BLS certification required within orientation period.
  • RN program as evidenced by licensure.
  • Official diploma or transcript from the school/university from where Degree was received.
  • As required by specific units.
  • The RN, Medical Nursing frequently stands, walks, and assists patients with mobility, transfers, and activities of daily living.
  • The role requires bending, reaching, and the ability to lift, move, or reposition patients and equipment using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
  • Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity are essential for performing assessments, administering treatments, and responding effectively in urgent situations.
  • This position functions within a fast-paced acute care environment with routine exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, medications, and cleaning agents.
  • The RN must follow PPE guidelines, infection-prevention standards, and safety protocols to protect patients and staff.
  • The work involves managing frequent interruptions, variable patient acuity, and high-stress situations while maintaining professionalism and clear communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty certification in area of practice is desirable.
  • Hospital experience is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing assessments and monitor vital signs, clinical status, and responses to treatment, intervening promptly when changes occur.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to established standards and provider orders.
  • Coordinate individualized care plans with interdisciplinary partners, supporting patient education, discharge readiness, and chronic disease management.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and communications accurately in the electronic health record to ensure continuity and regulatory compliance.
  • Support safe delegation to LPNs, CNAs, and other team members while maintaining accountability for overall patient care.
  • Participate in unit-based quality and safety initiatives, contributing to continual improvement in patient outcomes and care processes.
