About The Position

This is a 13-week contract position for a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical nursing. The role involves providing direct bedside nursing care to pre-operative and post-operative patients in a large acute care hospital setting. The nurse will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans, administering medications, performing various nursing procedures, operating medical equipment, monitoring vital signs, and educating patients and families. Accurate documentation and adherence to nursing standards are essential.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience in a large acute care hospital (most recent experience within the past year).
  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience in a post-acute facility or acute care hospital (most recent experience within the past year).

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
  • Provide direct bedside nursing care to pre-operative and post-operative patients.
  • Prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications.
  • Perform dressing changes, catheter insertions, and IV starts.
  • Operate and adjust specialized medical equipment as needed.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and report adverse reactions promptly.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team on discharge planning.
  • Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures and post-operative care.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, medical charts, and health documentation.
  • Adhere to established nursing standards, best practices, and clinical protocols.
