RN - Med/Surg (Acute Care) - Sitka, AK - Direct Hire/ Full-Time
About The Position
Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking an Acute Care RN – Med/Surg (Acute Care) for an exciting opportunity in Sitka, AK. This is a permanent, full-time position with a day shift schedule, requiring flexibility to float across inpatient units as needed. The role involves performing comprehensive nursing assessments, developing care plans, administering medications, monitoring patients, providing education, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. The position also requires adherence to infection control and safety standards, participation in quality improvement, and accurate documentation in the EHR.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
- Current unrestricted Alaska RN license required
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- ACLS certification (AHA) required
- PALS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to manage fluctuating patient acuity in inpatient settings
- Effective communication and interdisciplinary teamwork skills
- Proficiency with electronic health records
- Strong prioritization, organization, and time management abilities
Nice To Haves
- Med-Surg experience preferred
- Experience with adult, pediatric, orthopedic, or mother/baby patient populations preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments across adult, pediatric, orthopedic, and mother/baby med-surg populations
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans
- Administer medications and treatments according to provider orders and hospital policy
- Monitor patient conditions and escalate care when appropriate
- Provide patient and family education regarding treatment and discharge planning
- Deliver culturally competent, patient-centered nursing care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately within the EHR
- Follow infection control, medication safety, and regulatory standards
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing education activities
- Float to other inpatient units as needed
