About The Position

The RN works on a 25-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit alongside a multidisciplinary team that includes nursing assistants, clinical assistants, physical, occupational, speech-language, and recreational therapists, social workers, care managers, rehabilitation physicians, residents, and physician assistants. The team partners with patients and families to provide compassionate care and promote safe, high-quality patient experiences.

Under the ANA scope of practice and the direction of the Nurse Leader, the RN uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge while following Corewell Health policies and procedures. The RN incorporates patient- and family-centered care, uses patient and family input and goals when planning care, develops teaching strategies, and documents education and learning in the health record.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within five years.
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
• Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role, and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.

Responsibilities

• Use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge patients.
• Provide professional nursing care under the direction of the Nurse Leader and in accordance with Corewell Health policies and procedures.
• Incorporate patient- and family-centered care principles and partner with patients and families to support quality care and patient outcomes.
• Use patient and family input and goals when planning the plan of care.
• Develop teaching strategies for patients and families and document education and learning in the health record.
