About The Position

The RN provides professional nursing care within the ANA scope of practice, using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge while incorporating patient- and family-centered care principles. Under the direction of the Nurse Leader, the RN delivers quality care according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes how nursing care and patient/family partnerships affect outcomes. The RN includes patient and family input and goals in care planning, develops teaching strategies, and documents education and learning in the health record.

The position is on a 25-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit whose multidisciplinary team includes nurses, nursing assistants, clinical assistants, therapists, social work, care managers, physicians, residents, and a physician assistant. The team partners with patients and families to provide compassionate care and support a safe, high-quality patient experience.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required within five years.
• Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role, and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Responsibilities

• Use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge patients.
• Provide professional nursing care in accordance with the ANA scope of practice and Corewell Health policies and procedures.
• Partner with patients and families and incorporate their input and goals into care planning.
• Develop teaching strategies for patients and families and document education and learning in the health record.
• Work with the multidisciplinary inpatient rehabilitation team to support safe, quality patient care and patient outcomes.
