RN - Inpatient Mixed Acuity

Avera•Sioux Falls, SD
•Onsite

About The Position

The RN works in the Inpatient Mixed Acuity unit at Avera Heart Hospital, where rooms are equipped to support patients at different levels of illness and recovery. Patients remain in the same bed throughout their stay. Beds support hemodynamic monitoring, including EKG, invasive and non-invasive pressure, and cardiac output monitoring, as well as hospital-wide telemetry. Specialty equipment is brought in as needed, and monitoring and nursing care are adjusted to patient needs. Patients typically have cardiac, thoracic, or vascular diagnoses or procedures, and may also have conditions such as diabetes, renal disease, or pulmonary disease. New RNs receive education and mentoring to care for general and intermediate-level patients, with the opportunity to progress to critical care nursing on the same unit. The RN assesses patients, develops, implements, and evaluates plans of care, administers ordered medications and treatments, and directs, monitors, and evaluates care delegated to non-licensed personnel. The RN collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure safe and accurate care delivery. Schedules are flexible to cover all shifts and weekends as hospital needs demand.
