About The Position

McFarland Clinic is hiring a full-time RN-Infusion Nurse in Ames. The role provides infusion and oncology-related nursing care in a team environment, with a focus on compassionate, service-oriented patient care. The nurse works four 10-hour shifts per week, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and participates in a rotating Saturday schedule. Travel with oncologists to outreach clinic locations may be required as needed. Applicants must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing and hold a current Iowa Registered Nurse license and current Basic Life Support certification for Health Care Providers. Oncology Certified Nurse certification is preferred. Previous McFarland Clinic experience and oncology and/or medical-surgical nursing experience are also preferred; experience with electronic medical record systems is expected. Employment is contingent on passing pre-employment drug screening and criminal history background checks.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Health Care Providers.
Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Pass pre-employment drug screening and criminal history background checks as a condition of hire.

Nice To Haves

Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification.
Previous McFarland Clinic experience.
Oncology and/or Medical-Surgical nursing experience.

Responsibilities

Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and immunizations.
Prepare and administer chemotherapy, biologic medications, and other infusion therapies.
Provide telephone triage and patient education related to treatments and disease management.
Assist physicians with clinical and clerical duties associated with patient care.
Travel with oncologists to outreach clinic locations as needed.
