The Registered Nurse functions as a versatile clinical professional who provides care across Pre Operative, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and Endoscopy settings. The RN demonstrates proficiency in delivering high quality, age specific patient care and adapts effectively to the unique requirements of each clinical area. The RN develops effective working relationships with all members of the ASC and Clinic. Communicate information effectively, appropriately, and courteously regarding patient conditions to all required parties including physicians, anesthesia, management, staff, patients, families, and visitors. Performs safe and competent nursing care according to organizational policies as well as ASPAN, AORN, and SGNA standards. Float Team Requirement: This position is part of the ASC Float Team and requires the MCD RN II to float between a minimum of three Ambulatory Surgery Center locations based on staffing and operational needs. Float team members must be able to work varied shift days and times depending on site schedules, case volumes, and acuity needs.

Requirements

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or higher
  • Texas RN license; AHA BLS; ACLS; PALS
  • 3+ years RN in PACU, Pre-Op, or Endoscopy; 2+ years RN cross-functional experience in two out of three specialties: PACU, Pre Op, Endoscopy
  • Ability to travel between assigned ASC locations and work varied shifts as required by the float team assignment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • RN experience in ASC or hospital setting

Responsibilities

  • Follows the standards of care related to the nursing process
  • Conducts nursing assessments, assists with exams and treatments, and maintains medical records under direction
  • Practices in a manner consistent with cultural diversity and inclusion principles
  • Receives direction on addressing and resolving contingency situations
  • Documentation is accurate, legible, timely, and concise
  • Treats patients and families with courtesy, respect, and professionalism
  • Provides verbal and written instructions tailored to patient needs
  • Stocks unit and completes routine checks
  • Actively participates in preoperative call process
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership. Perform safe and competent operative nursing care according to the organization’s policy & procedures. Perform safe and competent operating room nursing care according to the organization’s policy & procedures & AORN (Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses) standards and or ASPAN (American Society of Peri Anesthesia Nursing) standards
