About The Position

Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (BBHH) is seeking a Registered Nurse, House Supervisor to join their dedicated healthcare team. This role is crucial in changing the lives of patients and providing exceptional care in a fast-paced environment that requires critical thinking, teamwork, and excellent communication. The House Supervisor will demonstrate sound leadership skills, organizing shift activities and supervising clinical staff. They will be an exemplary role model with a thorough understanding of hospital, nursing, and HR policies and procedures. The position requires knowledge of treatment procedures, interventions for acute psychotic and non-violent crises, abnormal psychology, medical terminology, psychopharmacology, and teaching/training skills. This leadership position is within the Inpatient units, where attention to detail and situational awareness are paramount for patient outcomes. The CARES values system must be evident in all patient care.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Current California RN License
• Current CPR certification (or obtained prior to start date)
• Previous experience in a mental healthcare hospital environment focusing on human behavior, psychiatry, psychology, or other mental healthcare situations is preferred.
• Completion of 'Handle-With-Care' Physical Restraint Technique Training during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Organizing the activities and schedules for medical and/or non-medical tasks for a given shift.
• Supervising clinical staff working with patients.
• Providing exemplary role modeling with high-quality clinical and interpersonal skills.
• Applying knowledge of treatment procedures, interventions, abnormal psychology, medical terminology, and psychopharmacology.
• Utilizing problem-solving, organizational, time management, and crisis intervention skills.
• Facilitating and/or co-facilitating process-oriented and didactic groups.
• Ensuring the CARES values system is displayed in every act of patient care.
