About The Position

Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (BBHH) is seeking a Registered Nurse, House Supervisor to join their dedicated healthcare team. This role is crucial in upholding BBHH's vision of providing excellent patient care and striving to be the best hospital possible. The House Supervisor will demonstrate strong leadership skills, organizing the activities and schedules for medical and/or non-medical tasks for children, adolescents, and adults during their shift, while supervising clinical staff. This position requires critical thinking, teamwork, and excellent communication in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be an exemplary role model with a thorough understanding of hospital, nursing, and HR policies and procedures, and possess basic knowledge of treatment procedures, interventions for acute psychotic and non-violent crises, abnormal psychology, medical terminology, psychopharmacology, and group facilitation skills. This leadership position is within the Inpatient units, where attention to detail and situational awareness are paramount to patient outcomes. Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Current California RN License
Current CPR certification (or obtained prior to start date)
Previous experience in a mental healthcare hospital environment focusing on human behavior, psychiatry, psychology, or other mental healthcare situations is preferred for shortlist consideration.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates sound leadership skills and utilizes these skills in organizing the activities and schedules for medical and/or non-medical tasks of the Child, Adolescent and Adult for a given shift, while supervising clinical staff working with patients.
Consistently high quality of clinical and interpersonal skills to be an exemplary role model to other staff.
Thorough working knowledge of Hospital, Nursing and HR policies/procedures, with demonstrated ability to use skills in clinical and leadership situations.

Displays basic knowledge of treatment procedures; interventions common to acute psychotic as well as non-violent crises intervention practice.
Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology as typically found in the child or adolescent psychiatric population, application of this knowledge to child, adolescent or adult knowledge of medical terminology, especially those terms associated with child, adolescent or adult psychiatric care.
Thorough familiarity of psych pharmacy and the use of psychotropic medications with child, adolescent or adult psychiatric population.
Basic teaching and training skills helpful; problem-solving; Organizational and time management; crisis intervention skills; Written and oral communication skills; skills in facilitating and/or co-facilitating process-oriented and didactic groups.
