About the Facility – West Palm Beach Veterans Affairs Medical Center (WPBVAMC) The West Palm Beach VA Medical Center offers a full range of patient care services, as well as comprehensive medical education and residency programs and limited research. The West Palm Beach VA Medical Center provides health services to veterans throughout South Florida and the Treasure Coast at its main facility in West Palm Beach and six contractor-operated community-based outpatient clinics in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Fort Pierce, Okeechobee, Stuart, and Vero Beach. Requirements

  • Completed courses for nursing from an accredited program approved by either the Commission for Education in Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
  • A current license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth in the U.S. or the District of Columbia.
  • A minimum of three years' direct patient care experience.
  • Must have Basic Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

  • Shall provide services in the long-term care division comprised of 3 long-term care units; long-term, short-stay, hospice/palliative care residents.
  • Shall be responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care.
  • Shall assess plans implements and evaluates care based on age-specific components.
  • Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction.
  • Shall be responsible for patient activities of daily living, assessments, medication, administering medication and procedures per established policies and guidelines, ion administration, IV therapy, interdisciplinary team coordination, admissions, and discharges, internal and external transfers, delegating to assistive personnel, electronic medical record documentations, patient transport, and emergency response procedures.
