About The Position

Provide direct nursing care and instruct/supervise the LPN and Hospice Aide staff in the delivery of nursing care to patients. The Float RN provides flexible clinical support throughout the organization based on operational need. This position is designed to provide coverage for staffing vacancies, leaves of absence, onboarding, high census, admissions, after hours, Elizabeth House, weekends, special projects, or other clinical priorities. The Float RN serves as a highly adaptable clinical resource capable of supporting multiple service lines, departments, and geographic regions. Assignments may vary in duration, location, schedule, and responsibilities based on organizational need while maintaining the highest standards of patient-centered hospice care. The Float RN is expected to work where the organizational need is greatest and may be assigned to any clinical program, department, shift, or geographic service area.

Requirements

  • Must be willing and able to care for patients with infectious disease processes unless approved accommodations.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulations and Medicare Conditions of Participation.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records systems.

  • Accredited School of Nursing Registered Nurse Graduate
  • Valid North Carolina Registered Nurse license.
  • Valid Driver's License and proof of automobile insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of clinical experience preferred.
  • Hospice or home health experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Practice within the scope of license, certification or registration, where applicable, and as required by law and regulation.
  • Assess the patient's physical and mental health including the patient's reaction to illnesses and treatment regimens.
  • Record and report the results of the nursing assessment.
  • Plan, initiate, deliver, and evaluate appropriate nursing acts.
  • Teach, assign, or supervise other personnel in implementing the treatment regimen.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers in determining the appropriate patient and family-centered plan of care.
  • Implement the treatment and pharmaceutical regimen prescribed by any person authorized by State law to prescribe the regimen.
  • Provide teaching and counseling about the patient's health.
  • Report and record the plan of care, nursing care given, and the patient's response to that care.
  • Supervise, teach, and evaluate those who perform nursing functions and administer nursing programs and nursing services.
  • Provide for the maintenance of safe and effective nursing care, whether rendered directly or indirectly.
  • Accept assignments of varying lengths based on staffing needs and operational priorities.
  • Function as a clinical resource to maintain continuity of patient care during vacancies, leaves of absence, onboarding, increased census, staffing shortages, or other operational challenges.
  • Provide clinical support in any assigned department, region, service line, or program based on organizational need.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by adapting quickly to different teams, workflows, patient populations, leaders, schedules, and care settings while maintaining high-quality patient care.
  • Maintain productivity and documentation standards appropriate to each assignment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work to achieve performance goals, pursue progress toward the Individual Development Plan (IDP), and demonstrate Four Seasons values and competencies.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training offered by the agency and/or required by nursing leadership.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, guidelines, and Mission Statement.
  • Practice safety and infection control methods.
  • Assist in providing 24-hour on-call services, including emergency, weekend, holiday, or other coverage assignments based on organizational need.
  • Assess for the need of other disciplines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
