This is a 60% FTE position for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Float Pool, Critical Care. The role involves working an 8/12 hour evening/night shift with hours between 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, including a weekend rotation. Hours may vary based on operational needs. The position is located at University Hospital in Madison, WI. The RN will float across multiple departments and specialties, caring for highly complex, critically ill patient populations in various intensive care units (ICUs) such as the Trauma Life Center, Burn ICU, Neurosciences ICU, and Cardiovascular ICU, and may float to intermediate care (IMC) units. The role requires providing high-quality, evidence-based care, utilizing critical thinking skills for patient assessment, complication recognition, and intervention administration, including advanced life support therapies. The RN will partner with multidisciplinary teams, hone interpersonal communication skills, and delegate tasks. Additionally, the RN will serve as a mentor and role model, with opportunities to orient new nurses, work with nursing students, and participate in strategic planning, quality improvement, and Shared Governance.
