Requirements

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a medical-surgical nursing setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to work night shifts and float between different medical-surgical units as needed.
• Strong knowledge of nursing principles, patient care standards, and hospital protocols.
• Clinical assessment and critical thinking skills daily to evaluate patient conditions and implement appropriate interventions.
• Effective communication skills are essential for coordinating care with multidisciplinary teams and educating patients and families.
• Adaptability and flexibility are crucial as the nurse floats between units, requiring quick learning of unit-specific protocols and patient populations.
• Time management and organizational skills enable the nurse to prioritize tasks efficiently during busy night shifts.
• Proficiency with electronic health records and documentation ensures accurate and timely recording of patient information, supporting continuity of care and compliance with regulatory standards.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Experience working in a float nurse capacity or across multiple medical-surgical units.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation software.
• Additional certifications such as Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN).
• Demonstrated skills in patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in various medical-surgical units during night shifts, adapting to different unit protocols and patient populations.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, monitor vital signs, administer medications, and implement prescribed treatments accurately and safely.
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and update individualized care plans.

• Document all nursing interventions, patient responses, and clinical observations thoroughly and in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Educate patients and their families regarding care plans, medications, and post-discharge instructions to promote recovery and prevent complications.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff during night shifts.
