About The Position

This Full time RNFA “ RN First Assist” position is scheduled for day shift and is also scheduled to be on call as needed at Oro Valley Hospital. At Oro Valley Hospital you’ll play a vital role in doing what you do best - providing quality care to our patients before, during, and after surgery. Oro Valley Hospital has 6 OR's is an all private-room acute-care hospital where technology and skilled professionals come together to provide compassionate, customer-focused care. Our key services include a robust orthopedics program using the da Vinci robot - minimally invasive and robotic assisted joint replacement surgery, minimally invasive and robotic assisted general surgery, gastroenterology and many others!

Requirements

Successful completion of an Accredited Surgical First Assistant (RNFA, CFA, or CSA) program
Two (2) years OR experience as Surgical Tech or RN required.
For CSA or CFA, current certification and BLS required.
For RNFA unrestricted Arizona RN license, CNOR certification
BLS Basic Cardiac & ACLS ( American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
Must also be able to provide Documentation of 100 cases as a First Assistant in the past 2 years for credentialing process through Medical Staff Services dept.

Nice To Haves

One (1) year First Assistant experience strongly preferred.
CRNFA to be completed within 9 months of employment.

Responsibilities

Assists in preparing rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment.
Assists with opening of sterile supplies.
Assists in moving, positioning, prepping, and draping patients for surgical procedures.
Assists the surgical team during operative procedures, anticipating needs of surgeon.
Functions as assistant to surgeon, as evidenced by retracting tissue and exposing the operating field during operative procedures, providing homeostasis during surgical procedures and assisting in closure of incisions.
Provides scrub and/or circulating nurse services within scope or practice in the operating room during surgical procedures and assists surgical team, as needed, in any other capacity.
