About The Position

The Nurse Extern works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. They perform multi-skilled duties within the limits of training and certification in caring for the patient. Assists the nursing team with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of patients. Assists patients with personal hygiene, dressing, and walking. Changes bed linens and assists with patient transportation to tests and procedures. May serve and collect food trays and provide patients with between-meal nourishment. May record temperature or vital signs under the direction of a nurse. PRN Status Clause: PRN / “as-needed” means you are not guaranteed a fixed schedule or hours. You work when they have needs in the schedule. You must be available to work at least 12 hours every two weeks (bi-weekly minimum), as specified in your PRN Commitment Agreement. Your actual hours will depend on department needs, not a set schedule. You may be asked to pick up extra shifts to cover gaps (like call-outs or shortages). Your total hours can go up or down—some weeks you might work more, some less.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled Nursing Student in an accredited Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) program.
  • Basic Life Support with American Heart Association is required.
