About The Position

This is a Part Time Days position for an RN in the Emergency Department at Piedmont Eastside Medical Center. The department is a 38-bed Emergency Department that sees an average of 160 patients a day with various acuities. It is a primary Stroke and Stemi receiving facility with two helicopter pads on campus. The department has 5 PODs (Behavioral Health Pod) and a collaborative team including Charge Nurses, ED Flow Coordinators, Paramedics, ED Techs, PCTs, Mental Health Technicians, and ED Providers. All staff members must have a BLS to work in this unit. The role involves providing nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice and coordinating patient care activities of assigned staff.

Requirements

Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing Required
RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. Required
BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
All staff members must have a BLS to work in this unit

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred
1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions Preferred
Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)

Responsibilities

Performs patient assessments to include collection of data regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial and health history.
Appropriately evaluates the developmental age of the patient when performing assessments, treatments and patient/family education.
Organizes patient data into the formulation of a plan of care; identifies additional information needed and makes care decisions based on identified needs. Identifies expected patient outcomes.
Carries out plan of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.
Provides patient care that is specific to the setting, identified needs and plan; ensures that the care provided is appropriate to the severity of the disease, condition, impairment or disability.
Oversees activities of ancillary and support team members.
Identifies teaching opportunities and provides the resources necessary for achieving the educational goals of the patients.
Communications issues/concerns to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager and/or physician as appropriate.
Documents patient care and concerns in the patient record.
