About The Position

This is a Part Time Days position in the Emergency Department at Piedmont Eastside SOUTH Campus. The Emergency Department is an 11-bed freestanding unit that coordinates and admits patients to the Main Campus Hospital, serving approximately 15,000 patient visits per year. The RN functions independently to assess, triage, plan, implement, and evaluate care for adult and pediatric patients. The patient population includes adults and pediatrics. Resources available include XR, CT, Lab, and Pharmacy in-house. Department staff includes RNs and Paramedics.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing Required
  • No experience required New Graduates of a nursing program eligible Required
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. Required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred
  • 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions Preferred
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
  • TNCC, ENPC, CEN, CPEN
  • Willingness to function as a preceptor, mentor, and relief charge nurse as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient assessments to include collection of data regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial and health history.
  • Appropriately evaluates the developmental age of the patient when performing assessments, treatments and patient/family education.
  • Organizes patient data into the formulation of a plan of care; identifies additional information needed and makes care decisions based on identified needs. Identifies expected patient outcomes.
  • Carries out plan of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Provides patient care that is specific to the setting, identified needs and plan; ensures that the care provided is appropriate to the severity of the disease, condition, impairment or disability.
  • Oversees activities of ancillary and support team members.
  • Identifies teaching opportunities and provides the resources necessary for achieving the educational goals of the patients.
  • Communications issues/concerns to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager and/or physician as appropriate.
  • Documents patient care and concerns in the patient record.
