About The Position

The Nurse Educator may provide direct patient care, patient triage (in-person and telephonic), assessment, planning, directing and evaluating of a patient’s specific care plan and clinic visit. The Nurse Educator collaborates with other members of the OB/GYN Departmental Care Team to implement, track and develop staff training and development. The Nurse Educator independently implements planned educational activities in accordance with departmental priorities and targeted for orientation, in-service, governing body requirements and continuing education. The Nurse Educator acts as a clinical lead to onsite nursing staff in absence of an onsite Nurse Supervisor or Nurse Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (or currently enrolled in BSN program)
  • Licensed Registered Professional Nurse
  • Maintains current BLS certification
  • Demonstrated clinical competency in a OBGYN nursing.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to probe, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and speak and hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must regularly lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Access to information is based on a “need to know” and is the minimum necessary to properly perform assigned duties.
  • Use or disclosure shall not exceed the minimum amount of information needed to accomplish an intended purpose.
  • Reasonable efforts, consistent with Albany Med Health System policies and standards, shall be made to ensure that information is adequately protected from unauthorized access and modification.

Nice To Haves

  • Seeks BLS Instructor Certification within one-year of hire.
  • Previous experience in educational program development and teaching preferred.
