About The Position

The RN Diploma Nursing Instructor must demonstrate the ability to deliver theory and skills training through direct teaching and demonstration of skills. This role involves providing experience in safety and maintenance issues in the medical workplace, teaching the course curriculum as outlined by FTC and DESE, and building knowledge and developing medical skills. The instructor will maintain accurate records on all students, including attendance, schedules, and course requirements. They will evaluate and document students’ progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained, and communicate effectively with students and all affiliated with the course. The instructor is responsible for providing direct instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning, encouraging student participation, interpersonal skills development, and medical-based concepts. The role also includes performing other assigned duties and emphasizing workplace readiness skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
  • Must be licensed in Missouri
  • Must have two years of full-time experience within the last five years
  • Must have five years clinical nursing experience within the last 10 years
  • Must qualify for career education teacher certification
  • Final approval must be obtained from the Missouri Board of Nursing before the position is assigned
  • Must obtain MO/DESE teaching certification within the first two (2) years of employment
  • Ability to implement curriculum, testing, and/or teaching methodologies
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of teaching methods, curriculum, and education programs
  • Possess teaching and facilitation skills
  • Ability to teach and control the behavior of students
  • Knowledge of academic and/or vocational education curricula
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant current education methodologies and techniques
  • Ability to understand and follow Board policies, administrative procedures and training and handbook materials
  • The employee must be able to lift 25 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver theory and skills training through direct teaching and demonstration of skills
  • Provide experience in safety and maintenance issues in the medical workplace
  • Teach the course curriculum as outlined by FTC and DESE
  • Build knowledge and develop medical skills
  • Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to, attendance records, schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content
  • Evaluate and document students’ progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained
  • Communicate effectively with students and all affiliated with the course
  • Responsible for providing direct instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning
  • Provide an environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and medical-based concepts
  • Perform other duties assigned

  • Ensure confidentiality of student records
  • Effectively monitor, instruct, and evaluate students in clinical settings

  • Comply with minimum standards established by MO State of Board Nursing
  • Act as a positive nursing role model to students and peers
  • Teach a portion of the curriculum of the Nursing program
  • Collaborate with the nursing faculty to develop, implement and evaluate the curriculum for the Nursing Program
  • Participate in the recruitment and retention efforts for the Nursing Program
  • Participate in the Nursing Advisory Committee for the program
  • Safeguards confidential and/or sensitive information
  • Communicates effectively with all the members of the school district and community
  • Provides excellence in customer service both internally and externally

  • Keeps abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques
  • Maintains accurate records and filing systems for accountability and audit purposes
