About The Position

As a member of the Interdisciplinary Team, and under the general direction of the Addictions Counsellor - Degree (Alcohol & Addictions services worker), the primary goal will be to restore, maintain and enhance the recovery of people seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related issues by implementing various modalities of addiction recovery programs. Responsibilities include providing informational programming as well as individual and group counselling sessions with clients. Requirements

  • Chemical Dependency diploma
  • Inpatient services and/or harm reduction setting is required
  • Demonstrates knowledge in addiction(s) and their effects on family units
  • Ability to accurately assess addiction(s) and make appropriate recovery plans.
  • Ability to screen for addictions and/or addiction related symptoms
  • Knowledge in group dynamics
  • Knowledge of screening and addiction assessment tools and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of a Holistic Addiction Treatment Model
  • Knowledge in best practices in addictions and harm reduction strategies
  • Knowledge of community resources in the addictions field.
  • Ability to deliver workshops and lecture material to clients and community
  • Work collaboratively w/ a multidisciplinary team & other agencies in the commnty
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to organize work load demands
  • Must upload all relevant documents (ex: certificates, diplomas, proof of enrollment, licenses and/or memberships) relating to the qualifications of the position.
  • Must bring a valid Criminal Record Check (CRC) to the interview; it must be dated within six (6) months and include a vulnerable sector search.
