About The Position

This is a 100% FTE position for a Registered Nurse (RN) working an 8/12 hour day shift, Monday through Friday, with varied start times between 6:00 am and 9:30 am. No weekends or holidays are required, though hours may vary based on operational needs. The role is located at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI. The RN will provide care to a variety of pediatric patients in an outpatient setting requiring day treatment therapies, administer infusions for diverse conditions, and provide post-anesthesia care. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team is essential. The position involves working in day treatment therapies (infusions, transfusions), sedation for procedures, and pre-post anesthesia care.

Requirements

  • 6 months pediatric nursing experience Required
  • Registration as a professional nurse in the State of Wisconsin Upon Hire Required
  • CPR certification Upon Hire Required
  • PALS certification within 6 months Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
  • 1 year recent (within 2 years) experience in Pediatric Acute Care and/or Pediatric hematology/oncology and/or Pediatric Sedation and/or Pediatric PACU or pre/post anesthesia area Preferred
  • Chemotherapy certification Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide care to a variety of pediatric patients in an outpatient setting requiring day treatment therapies.
  • Administer infusions to pediatric patients for a wide variety of conditions including, cancer, hematologic conditions, Crohn’s disease, juvenile arthritis, genetic disorders, transplant and research.
  • Provide post-anesthesia care including phase I and phase II recovery following radiologic interventions/treatments.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team including, proceduralists, specialty providers, APPs child life, scheduling, and radiology.
  • Set priorities adapting to changing patient and unit/clinic situations.
  • Work in two of three care areas: day treatment therapies (e.g. infusions, transfusions), sedation for procedures as well as pre-post anesthesia care.
