About The Position

Work Schedule: 100% FTE, 8 hour day/evening shifts, Monday – Friday with varied start times between 6:00am – 9:30am. No weekends or holidays. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. You will be working at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI. Be part of something remarkable! We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to: Provide care to a variety of pediatric patients in an outpatient setting requiring day treatment therapies. Administer infusions to pediatric patients for a wide variety of conditions including, cancer, hematologic conditions, Crohn’s disease, juvenile arthritis, genetic disorders, transplant and research. Provide post-anesthesia care including phase I and phase II recovery following radiologic interventions/treatments. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team including, proceduralists, specialty providers, APPs child life, scheduling, and radiology Set priorities adapting to changing patient and unit/clinic situations. Work in two of three care areas: day treatment therapies (e.g. infusions, transfusions), sedation for procedures as well as pre-post anesthesia care.

Requirements

Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state(s) where patients are receiving care or may work as eligible per state licensing regulations Upon Hire
Basic Life Support/CPR Upon Hire
6 months of relevant clinical nursing experience Required
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months Preferred
Certification in area of specialty Chemotherapy certification Preferred
1 year Specific to Diagnostic & Therapy Center – previous experience in chemo, sedation and/or anesthesia recovery Preferred

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred
Additional years of relevant clinical nursing experience Preferred
Prior involvement in clinical procedures in area of specialty, including successful work or involvement in other hospital-wide project work Preferred
Experience in an academic medical setting Preferred
