About The Position

The Infusion Therapy Center provides coverage daily from 7:00 am – 11:30 pm in the hospital-based outpatient Infusion Therapy Center. This specialty area has 30 beds. Infusion Therapy nurses are experts in intravenous medication administration, vascular access care and maintenance, and PICC line placement and care. They serve as a resource for the Department of Nursing and the institution on vascular access care and troubleshooting. The center offers a broad variety of infusion therapies, including IV medication, IM injection, blood product administration, and therapeutic phlebotomy. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship, which requires state licensure and completion of VisaScreen or equivalent certification.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Accountable for the coordination of nursing care.
  • Accountable for direct patient care.
  • Accountable for patient/family education.
  • Accountable for transitions of care.
  • Function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model.
  • Possess excellent communication skills.
  • Skillful in mentoring and teaching.
  • State licensure (for TN sponsorship).
  • Completion of VisaScreen or equivalent certification (for TN sponsorship).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
  • Support professional nursing practice across practice settings and the continuum of care to meet patient and family needs.
  • Plan, implement, evaluate, and communicate all phases of nursing care for assigned patients within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model.
  • Practice according to the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice.
  • Provide leadership through preceptor roles, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Delegate patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability.
  • Utilize excellent communication skills.
  • Mentor and teach.
  • May participate on committees or projects.
  • A subset of employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as part of the responsibility of their role.
