About The Position
The RN – Clinical Supervisor provides clinical and administrative leadership for a hospital unit, supporting patient care delivery and overseeing nursing staff performance. This position works in collaboration with the unit director to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. Responsibilities include supervision of staff, shift coordination, support for clinical practice, and facilitation of operational initiatives, staffing, and patient flow.
Requirements
- Postsecondary certificate, diploma, or program graduation from an accredited school of nursing. (Required)
- Registered Nurse (RN) – State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the state of practice. (Required upon hire)
- Basic Life Support (BCLS). (Required upon hire or within facility-specified timeframe)
- Two (2) or more years of clinical experience in acute care nursing. (Required)
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a related field. (Preferred)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or NIH Stroke Scale certification. (May be required – facility specific; upon hire or within facility-specified timeframe)
- Prior experience in a charge nurse or supervisory role. (Preferred)
Responsibilities
- Provides clinical leadership and supervision for RN, LPN, NA, and unit support staff.
- Assists with patient care, nursing assessments, and treatment planning using the nursing process.
- Coordinates nursing activities and resource utilization to achieve unit goals.
- Ensures quality, safety, and regulatory compliance in daily operations.
- Participates in patient education, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary care coordination.
- Supports staff development through mentoring, training, and education.
- Assists with hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
- Contributes to budgeting, staffing plans, and resource management.
- Participates in audits, performance improvement initiatives, and policy development.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
