The Clinical Decision Unit provides short-term, hospital-based treatments, assessments, reassessments, and periodic monitoring for patients whose status must be evaluated to determine whether they can be discharged or need inpatient admission. Expected length of stay is 8–48 hours, resulting in high-volume admission, transfer, and discharge activity. The unit is fast-paced, with a pace similar to the Emergency Room and diagnostic workups and care needs in a telemetry setting. The nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, educates, and documents patient care in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing standards. The role uses specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to assess patient data, plan and provide appropriate care, evaluate outcomes, and facilitate safe discharge. This position is 36 hours per week, with a 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. schedule and rotating weekends and holidays. The position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, which governs compensation. The listed base hourly pay range is $37.14–$82.22. Staff must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.
