The 1E Med-Surg/Observation Unit at St. Anthony Hospital, a Magnet® designated hospital, is a 22-bed department that handles over 300 patients a month. This unit combines observation (14 beds) and inpatient (8 beds) status patients. Observation beds receive various patients from the ED requiring further observation, testing, or monitoring. Top diagnoses include chest pain and abdominal pain. Patients requiring care longer than 24-48 hours are transferred to inpatient status. The department's mission is to deliver safe, quality care in a timely manner. It's a great place to solidify med/surg skills, develop time management, and understand both ED and inpatient patients. Nurses work alongside a mid-level provider (PA or NP) and care for diverse patient populations. The team culture is positive and close-knit, with opportunities for learning about various disease processes and achieving nursing goals, education, or certification. Candidates should be open, willing to ask questions, flexible, able to see the broader picture, and fast learners. This is a fast-paced department with admissions and discharges on every shift, requiring nurses to be adaptable and hard-working. As an RN Clinical Coordinator, you will support the department director/manager by coordinating clinical and department activities, serving as a clinical resource and role model. You will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, ensure high-quality care, act as a liaison between physicians and the patient care team, authorize work procedures, assign duties, manage as shift charge, and take patient assignments based on unit needs and acuity, all while promoting patient well-being and adhering to professional standards. Success in this role requires exceptional clinical skills, strong leadership potential, superior communication and collaboration abilities, and a commitment to ethical practice, quality patient care, and a supportive team environment.
