About The Position

SSM Health is seeking an experienced RN Clinical Coordinator to support daily operations in Surgical Services. This role assists with staffing, workflow coordination, patient flow, and serves as a clinical resource to the perioperative team. Delivers professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. Connects with clinical education to ensure the unit meets skill competency and received professional development to ensure high-quality care. Performs the primary functions of a Registered Nurse within a unit, inclusive of assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of all assigned patients. Works with professionals who provide services with the intention of building capacity and maintaining quality of services.

Requirements

  • Surgery experience is a MUST
  • RN license required
  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing
  • Three years' experience
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) OR Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration OR Registered Nurse (RN) Issued by Compact State OR Registered Nurse (RN) - Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN) OR Registered Nurse (RN) - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services

  • Educator experience preferred but not required
  • Leadership/charge experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Coaches in assigned area in a collaborative model of observation, demonstration, and reflection to promote quality support and service through training and in-field mentoring.
  • Facilitates professional collaborative groups among professionals both locally and with communities of practice with a focus on capacity building.
  • Provides direct on-site observation, evaluation, individual and/or group consultation and document review.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary assessments and may participate in internal and external quality assurance activities.
  • Works as a liaison to the clinical education department on behalf of surgical and/or procedural services.
  • Supports the department with skills competency of team members and professional development.
  • May perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure and preparing operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
  • May perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
  • Applies the existing body of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based on patient’s age-specific needs and clinical needs as described in the department's scope of service.
  • Uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide his/her response to the current and evolving health and nursing needs of our patients and our patient populations.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
