About The Position

At St. Catherine Hospital – Dodge City, our Emergency Department has 8 beds including 2 trauma ready beds and our team cares for patients of all ages, from infant to end of life. Our patient population includes many industrial, farming and motor vehicle accidents. As the first point of contact for many patients receiving care at our facility, we strive to provide dependable, fast paced & thoughtful care to each patient. St. Catherine Hospital Dodge City, is a Joint Commission accredited 99-bed hospital that serves as a regional referral center for southwest Kansas. Acute care is at the heart of what we do. Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with exceptional clinical skills, strong leadership potential, superior communication and collaboration abilities, and an unwavering commitment to ethical practice, quality patient care, and a supportive team environment.
  • Associates Degree in Nursing; Nursing Diploma or by endorsement
  • Active and unencumbered RN License in state of employment
  • BLS from the American Heart Association
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
  • ENPC or PALS
  • One year RN ED experience
  • TNCC within one year of hire

Responsibilities

  • Actively support the department director/manager by coordinating clinical and department activities for the unit, serving as a vital clinical resource and professional role model.
  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, ensure high-quality care delivery, act as a crucial link between physicians and the patient care team, authorize work procedures, assign duties, manage as shift charge, and actively take patient assignments based on unit needs and acuity, all while promoting patient well-being and adhering to professional standards.
  • Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records & clinical data.
  • Evaluate patient’s response and intervenes to ensure optimal patient outcome.
  • Develop and implement patient plan of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide leadership, support, and coordination of unit’s daily operations during designated shift.
  • Assist in directing, organizing, and prioritizing all shift activities ensuring patient care and staff needs are met.
  • Ensure appropriateness of admissions/cases to the unit/department and that appropriate staff skill mix exists to provide safe patient care.
  • Serve as a liaison to the multidisciplinary patient care team.
