About The Position

We are looking for a qualified Registered Nurse Charge Nurse to join our department in Med Surg working Fulltime Days. This position is located at Texas Health Fort Worth, 1304 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104, on the BU GI GU Surgical Unit. The GI GU Surgical Unit is a 36-bed surgical unit that will care for colorectal, gastrointestinal, and urology surgery patients. The unit will initially open with 20 beds and plans to expand to 36 beds later in the year. Patients may be admitted pre- or post-operatively, with an average length of stay of approximately five days. Positions require 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays. Team members may be placed on call for regularly scheduled shifts in response to census fluctuations. Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth is a 726-bed, Magnet-designated regional referral center that has served the residents of Tarrant County and surrounding communities since 1930. Hospital services include cardiovascular care, high-risk obstetrics, gynecology, orthopedics and sports medicine, neonatal intensive care, and trauma/emergency medicine. In early 2014, Texas Health Fort Worth opened a new 75,000 square foot Emergency Services Center, one of the largest in the region. Texas Health Fort Worth has more than 4,000 employees, 200 volunteers and nearly 1,000 physicians on its medical staff. The hospital is also a designated Cycle III Chest Pain Center by the Society of Chest Pain Centers.

Requirements

• Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
• 1 Year Experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting required.
• RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire required.
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required.
• A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• 2 Years Experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Charge Nurse on the GI GU Surgical Unit.
• Provide direct patient care to colorectal, gastrointestinal, and urology surgery patients.
• Manage patient admissions, including pre- and post-operative care.
